New Series // Killing Sin
This Tuesday we are beginning our new series based on Romans 8:13.
This passage and others have challenged me to practice something I like to call “aggressive Christian living,” where we understand that every day is a fight not only against the world, Satan and demons but against our own flesh and our own desire for evil. I have been challenged to make war with my sin because I know it is the only thing that prevents me from growing closer to God.

ANXIETY IS SIN.
Philippians 4:4-7 (esv) • Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Brief Sermon Recap: Philippians 4:1-9
Disunity is one of the greatest dangers facing the church and needs to be resolved quickly (4:2-3). Communication is the first thing that needs to take place when conflict arises, a mediator may also need to be present. The truth must be told and a restoration of unity is the greatest priority.
Another danger to the church as well as the individual is anxiety. Anxiety is common to most because the greatest cause of anxiety is life itself. When we think of the future and freak out about we are anxious and must understand our sin, submit ourselves to prayer and put our minds on all things good (4:4-9) which should ultimately lead us to thinking about our Savior.
Brief Sermon Recap: Philippians 3:12-16
We should never be completely satisfied with were we are in our spiritual lives, instead we should understand that we are not perfect, we have not obtained our final prize and we need to press on, striving forward because Christ Jesus has made us His own. How do we do this? Trembling at the Word of God is a great place to start (Isaiah 66:2; 1 Peter 1:24-25; 2 Peter 1:16-21).
